Italy Trip 2011

The History Department is planning a visit to Rome (and possibly Pompeii and Sorento) in April 2011. This will be an incredible opportunity to visit some of the great relics on Ancient Rome, view the masterpieces of Renaissance Italy and see the legacy of Mussolini's dictatorship. Estimated cost: £550-600. The trip will be open to pupils studying GCSE History next year, but I would consider taking A Level students if they were interested. If you would like to know more, leave a comment below.

A2: Charles II and the Restoration

BBC Radio 4 marked the anniversary of the Restoration of Monarchy by broadcasting a special 30 minute programme on the subject. Here's the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00s3d1r/Random_Edition_350th_Anniversary_of_the_Restoration_Special/

Why not download it on to an iPod and listen to it while driving? Remember, you can refer to views expressed on air in your essays in A2 1 and gain marks for historiography by doing so.

Charles II appearing on BBC Radio 4

A2 students should tune in to Radio 4 at 9.45am on weekdays from Monday 10th May, as their Book of the Week will be 'A Gambling Man' by Jenny Uglow. This is an excellent book, focusing on the Restoration, which presents a vivid and rounded picture of England's 'Merry Monarch'. Its well worth listening to, but if you're too busy revising at 9.45, you can always catch it later on BBC iPlayer. Here's the link to the 'Book of the Week' website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qftk

REVISION INFORMATION COMING SOON

Revision tips, advice on answering questions and notices about upcoming revision sessions will be posted on this site. A2, AS and GCSE students should check on a daily basis. SJW
